Chapter V · Responsibility before experience

POWERFUL MEDICINE REQUIRES A HIGHER STANDARD

Scientific seriousness and spiritual depth are not opposites. Both require humility, preparation, and respect for risk.

Psychedelic medicine can be profound, demanding, and medically complex. It should never be reduced to spectacle, trend, or a universal solution. The standard surrounding the medicine matters as much as the modality itself.

Interest in ibogaine, ayahuasca, 5-MeO-DMT, and psilocybin often arises around trauma, PTSD, depression, or addiction. Research is evolving, outcomes vary, and suitability is always decided individually.

01

Individualized and legally situated

Ibogaine, ayahuasca, 5-MeO-DMT, Changa DMT, and psilocybin may be considered as distinct modalities within an individualized plan, under medical supervision and in a licensed setting where legally available.

They are not interchangeable. Each has different pharmacology, duration, contraindications, psychological demands, traditions, and risk considerations.

02

The standard around the medicine

Responsible work includes medical and psychological screening, medication review, informed consent, preparation, appropriate monitoring, qualified facilitation, recovery support, and integration.

Suitability cannot be inferred from interest alone. Some people should not receive a given medicine, and declining or postponing treatment can be the most responsible decision.

03

Respect without exaggeration

Spiritual meaning can be honored without converting personal experience into medical proof. Scientific evidence can be taken seriously without flattening the human dimensions of the work.

No psychedelic intervention is risk-free or appropriate for everyone. Outcomes vary, and no experience should be represented as a guaranteed cure.

Power asks more of the setting, the team, and the standard—not less.
